Series of promotional illustrations for cozy motel in the Sunshine Coast, BC.

The Client: The Stonewater Motel
The Challenge: Showcase the incoming new amenities in the motel, for a promotional article.
The Solution: Three illustrations and a map that portrays the whimsy and natural vibe of the place.
THE PROCESS
Thumbnails and Composition
The mission was to make three illustrations: A spa, a fire pit with a trailer and an a-frame style cabin. Using the reference images sent by the client for each of the amenities, I created thumbnail sketches for possible compositions for each piece.

After a round of feedback, we settled on which thumbnails worked best, and any changes to implement (in red).
We also concluded that the nature retreat for this motel would fit a watercolor style painting, to highlight the handmade, reclaimed and organic aspects of the place.

The Map
The inspiration for the map tied into the whimsy and fairytale energy desired by the client, by creating the dissonance between the overhead composition and the front perspectives of the buildings, giving it a playful touch.
